Hi there! I feel like I haven't posted in a while, but I'm back! Today I will be reviewing a book I just recently read that I really liked. I am reviewing "Dating You/Hating You". I've wanted to read a Christina Lauren book for a long time and decided to start with this book because my sister loved it. I was not disappointed!
Plot-5/5
I loved the plot for this book. The book is set at a Halloween Party at the beginning of the book. The two main leads, Evie and Carter are the only singles at the party and they are both dressed up as Harry Potter characters. They get to know each other and have a connection. Later on they go on a date and then it goes downhill from there. Evie and Carter are both Talent Agents working in L.A. Everything is great until their companies merge and one of them has to leave. So the rest of the book is them feeling conflicted because of their feelings for each other and they compete against each other for the job.
I love hate-to love romance, so this was right up my alley. I really loved that this book was mostly set at work. I loved reading about their jobs, I found it really interesting. I also love office romance books so of course I loved this book.
Writing-5/5
I really loved their writing styles. I can't really differentiate their writing styles, but both of them were great. The writing was very easy to read, and I loved the dialogue. There were times where I laughed out loud. The dialogue was so funny and I loved reading about their banter back and forth to each other.
Pacing-5/5
The pacing of this novel was well done. I was never bored and everything flowed smoothly.
Cover-5/5
I love the cover of this book. I really like the colors and I like how it shows Evie and Carter on the cover. That's exactly how I pictured them, except Carter has glasses in the book.
Characters-5/5
What really made this book for me was the characters. I loved every character. The side characters were awesome, too.
First of all, I loved Evie. I love that she is a good girl, but she can be nasty when she wants to be. I loved how dedicated she was to her job, and I also loved that she was so great at her job. She was a really strong character and I loved when she did nasty pranks to Carter. They were so funny! Her boss Brad was such a jerk to her, but she always handled him well.
I also loved Carter. I felt that he was really different from a lot of guys in romance books. He's not cocky or a player. He's just a regular nice guy that is also good-looking. I also loved his dedication to his job. His love for Evie was so sweet, and I also loved the pranks he pulled on her. Also, he wears glasses. How could I not love him?
I loved Evie and Carter's relationship. I liked how they had an attraction to each other since the beginning, but then it kind of turned to bitterness after they had to prove themselves for the job. I loved how they still supported each other and were kind most of the time. Their relationship was so cute and I loved the ending. Evie and Carter are meant for each other, and I loved the fact that they were dressed up as Harry and Hermione for the costume party. That part already made me love the book! I love when authors sprinkle in Harry Potter references. It always makes me love the book even more.
I also loved Evie's friends. They were awesome, and I loved that there was no drama between them at all.
Final Thoughts
I really loved this book. It was a fun read and I can't wait to read their other books. I obviously gave this book 5/5 Lily Pads. It was really good!
So that was my review. Thank you so much for reading, and I will have another post up very soon. Have a great day, and keep on reading! :)
